Reed Davis

We are all a product of our own experiences, and in my case, through a series of chance encounters, I became interested in the financial planning industry back in 1985. After receiving stocks from a family friend, I became fascinated with the Stock Exchange. I put myself through Louisiana Tech University, received a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and went to work in the financial services industry in 1987. In 1999, I began working with my current business partner, Donovan Davis, and we decided to move to Alexandria and open our own independent firm, Reed Davis Wealth Management.

Over time, I have developed a passion for helping individuals and families prepare for retirement, as well as creating customized income strategies for those who are already retired. As a registered representative with LPL Financial, and with years of consulting and advising clients in these areas, I have the experience to provide our clients with competent, independent, and professional advice. As a registered principal and financial advisor with LPL Financial, I hold several security licenses, registrations, as well as numerous insurance licenses.

I am a native of Jonesboro, Louisiana, and moved to Alexandria in 2001. My wife, Kerri, and I are the proud parents of two sons, Connor and Ethan. In our spare time, we enjoy camping in our RV, seeing the country, cheering on the kids with their sports, swimming, and playing with our two dogs.

I’m a lifelong native of Alexandria and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University. After earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, I went to work for a large brokerage firm and learned the ropes from my now business partner, Eric Reed. In 2001, Eric and I moved back to Alexandria and joined a smaller regional brokerage firm. We quickly learned that, like the previous larger firm, this brokerage firm spent more time teaching its advisors on how to maximize profits than how to best help the clients achieve their financial goals. We were determined to change that. In 2004, we took a leap of faith and ventured out to open an independent advisory firm, Reed Davis Wealth Management, that focused on helping our clients with financial planning, not just investment advice, in an unbiased and fiduciary environment. 

In my pursuit of lifelong learning, I attained the designation of a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner through the CFP Board of Standards, which helps identify financial planners who are committed to competent and ethical behavior when providing financial planning. While anyone can call themselves a financial planner, only those who have fulfilled the certification and renewal requirements of the CFP Board can display the CFP® certification mark. I am also a registered representative through LPL Financial. 

Although I feel that all areas of financial planning are important, one of my favorite areas of focus is helping our clients pay the IRS as little as possible with long-range tax planning. Tax planning is both challenging and rewarding when done correctly.

When not working with clients, I love spending time with my wife and children, mostly outdoors: hunting, skiing, ballparks, you name it. I’m an unapologetic Christian and patriotic Veteran who served in Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003. Some call me crazy, but in 2019 I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and instantly fell in love with the sport.
